  14. 1. PURPOSE
  15.  
  16. SmartDir produces customizable file listings and disk management
  17. reports. Helps document and manage everything from hard drives
  18. and CD-ROMs to the largest network server volumes. Generates plain
  19. text documents that can be edited, saved, printed, or copied and
  20. pasted into other programs. Tab-delimited output option. Reports
  21. can be scheduled to run unattended. Many other features, such as
  22. NTFS compression stats. Standard Microsoft Visual C++ application
  23. provides unlimited report sizes and unmatched speed.

  26. 2. INSTALLATION
  27.  
  28. The smdir30.exe file included in this archive is a self-extracting
  29. install file. It will temporarily extract files to your "temp"
  30. directory and launch the Setup program. The default install
  31. location for SmartDir is C:\Program Files\Gavlock Consulting, but
  32. this can be overridden during the installation. An uninstall program
  33. that will completely remove SmartDir from your system is also
  34. provided.

  37. 3. SHAREWARE
  38.  
  39. SmartDir is distributed as shareware. The shareware (unregistered)
  40. version is a complete working version of the program but limits the
  41. number of report items processed after the first 20 reports (to help
  42. provide a full evaluation, there are no limits placed on the first 20
  43. reports generated). If you wish to continue to use the program and
  44. have these limits removed, a $20 registration fee is required.
  45. Registered users also receive priority technical support, priority
  46. enhancement consideration, and prompt notification of future product
  47. updates.

  52. The shareware version of SmartDir may be freely distributed for
  53. evaluation purposes without charge.
